Is it dangerous to get an ear (lobe) pierced WITHOUT a gold or silver stud?
I've just bought myself a pair of fake plugs. Would it be dangerous to pierce my ears and use these till the wound heals?
The fake plugs are like black circles (like buttons) each end, joined by a metal (silver looking) bar which goes through the ear and joins them. Giving the illusion of plugs.
I was just wondering if these would give the same protection against infection. Especially seeing as they cover the wound.
The bar on the fake plugs is Surgical Steel.
The reason precious metals are used in fresh piercings is because they are non reactive and will be less likely to lead to infection.
Be careful with everything else- you're effectively getting it in contact with your blood.
