is this a good career for me if i open up a shop? which city would be best?
well, im only in middle school, but i really love ace of cakes. plus i really like to bake (although i have no opportunities to) and i want to open aup a cake store like charm city cakes. would this be a good career if i start taking cooking from 8th and on? what would i have to do to open a shop?
don't give up ..as soon as you are old enough to work in your state. Get any job you can baking for some one as an apprentice, or helper.This gives you experience as well as contacts in the Business. Find out where there are (in your area) things like food fairs or out door markets . Where vender's(you) sell pies, bread, cakes, etc. . . contact catering companies that do their own baking.. What i am saying is that you need experience in the real application of selling your trade. Right now ! now- today if you could find a way to use your home kitchen . to make somethings to sell . This ,in fact, would be your first " SHOP" that is how most companies start. You start small and grow.That is the most Crucial part of owning your own shop.Selling enough to pay the bills. As well as taking your culinary courses.You must also take Business related courses to learn the economics side of operating a Business..This is what most small bisiness people lack the most. You must learn both ends of your bisiness. As to where? This is something will learn your bisness classes. Also, economic classes will teach you how to handle money and make money. And will help you from making many mistakes in your young life. As to understanding car and house financing, credit cards,contracts etc. That get so many people in money trouble. Because the did not know what they were getting into and how much the real costs are. Go talk to a cake shop owner. Tell them you would like to know how they got started. Hope I helped a little bit.
