Can someone help with a diamond ring?
My boyfriend and I are getting engaged and we do not have a lot of money. This is the ring we picked out but I was hoping someone could tell me if this is a good choice for not having a lot of money. It is originally $1700 but it is on sale for $600. Can someone explain what 1 ct. tw. means and the total weight thing at the bottom. Does that mean it is not a 1 carat diamond?
Metal: 10K gold
Metal Color: White
Stone: 1 ct. t.w. round and tapered baguette diamonds
Setting: Prong and Channel
Color Rating: I-J
Clarity Rating: I2-I3
Sizes: 7 only
Diamond total weights may vary between .01 and .08 carat.

You might want to consider Moissanite if you are trying to save money. Its really pretty, and sparkles more than a diamond. It's a gemstone that came from a meteorite that is man-made only, and is much rarer than diamonds (you can't even find it in nature, they make in it a lab) It also less expensive, and comes in better settings. You can see them in person at Kohl's and compare it with a diamond. Here's two rings I saw at the kohl's website, both less than $ 600, and both with much bigger center stones:

Although I decided on London Blue Topaz for my ring, Moissanite was a close second. I honesty didn't want anyone to mistake my ring for a diamond. The diamond trade is so ugly to me, with diggers getting slave wages, and child laborers cutting and polishing the stones. Jewelers who swear it's an investment, and then won't buy the diamond back. We put our savings into remodeling our home, and we have zero wedding debt. We've only been married 2 years.
